GENERAL OUTCOME

At the end of the module, the trainee is able to deliver preoperative anesthesia care to patients undergoing complex Ophthalmologic procedures.

SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

1.  Discuss the basic sciences relevant to the principles and practices of ophthalmologic anesthesia

2.  Deliver safe perioperative anesthetic care to adult patients undergoing non-complex elective and emergency ophthalmologic surgeries.

3.  Deliver safe perioperative anesthetic care to paediatric patients undergoing non-complex elective and emergency ophthalmologic surgeries.

4.  Safe and effective administration of local anesthetic blocks for ophthalmologic procedures.

5.  Safe and effective sedation technique for ophthalmologic procedures.

6.  Discuss techniques for post-operative pain relief in patients undergoing major reconstructive oculoplastic surgery.

7.  Demonstrates knowledge in the safety precautions required during the use of lasers in ophthalmologic surgery.
